Lomsdal - Visten Nasjonalpark
Lomsdal-Visten National Park

"Here you'll find everything that nature can offer - the most barren, the lovliest, the most quiet and the most dramatic scenery.  A word such as magnificent, deserted and wild, quiet and simple can be used of this Lomsdalen area.  And yet - words can be inadequate"
(From "The Forgotten Land" by Arvid Sveli)

Nevernes is the gateway to Lomsdalen National Park, about. 8 km from Hommelstø and Southern Rock Night. See own site for more information about Lomsdalen and how to get there.

Torghatten
Torghatten Mount Torghatten is a 260 meters high mountain on the island of Torget, south of Brønnøysund. Torghatten is known as the mountain with the magnificent hole. Legend tells of its origins, thousands of years ago. The hole is 160 meters deep, 35 meters high and 15-20 meters across. It takes about 30 minutes to walk on a pathway from the car park to the hole at 112 meters. Hiking boots are recommended. There is a danger of falling rocks and a visit is at your own risk.

App. 45 minutes drive from Hommelstø and 15 km. from Brønnøysund, the regional center in Southern Helgeland.

Vega Archipalago World Heritage We also recommend a trip to the island kingdom of Vega in the district of Nordland, Norway that encompasses 6000 islands, holms, and skerries. Most of the 1400 inhabitants of the county live on the main island of Vega, where fishing and agriculture have been the primary way of life for more than 10,000 years. The county of Vega includes the largest concentration of islands in Norway, with thousands of islands, holms, and skerries. Vega is a kingdom of contrasts - with maritime islands, high mountains, wetlands, and rich bird, plant, and mammal populations.

From Hommelstø it's about 30 minutes drive to the ferry, and app. 50 minutes with the ferry to Vega.
